Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield says crime is down. The city’s safer. Everything’s looking rosy.
Well, not so fast, Madam Mayor.
While Sheffield takes a victory lap over Detroit’s summer crime numbers, Charlie LeDuff has a few questions about what’s happening inside City Hall — particularly the allegations surrounding Detroit’s police chief.
Why is the mayor celebrating? Why isn’t the local media asking tougher questions? And what’s really going on behind the scenes?
Charlie and Jason Roe dig into the mayor’s public safety press conference, the controversy surrounding Detroit’s police leadership, and a potentially explosive development involving investigators.
PLUS: A Detroit-area family says a funeral home put the WRONG BODY in their mother’s casket. You can’t make this stuff up.
And Charlie has a warning for Mayor Sheffield: Next week, we’re following the money and asking questions about Marvin Walker.
The crime numbers. The police chief. The money. The questions nobody wants to answer.
This is the No BS Newshour. No spin. No sacred cows. Just the questions that need asking.
