Anti-Muslims descend on Dearborn.
Politicians capitalize on the fear.
Were they funded by the Southern Poverty Law Center?
Who is really living in Michigan?
Some out-of-town knucklehead comes to Dearborn trying to stir up trouble, and our local politicians snap it up like turtles in heat.
They want you scared, they want you mad, and they want to use this media mirage to keep us at each other’s throats.
In this video, we cut through the political posturing and look at the actual numbers.
Here is the reality on the ground:
The “Invasion” That Wasn’t: A fringe social media influencer brought a handful of outsiders to rabble-rouse. The crowd was just a third agitators, a third locals telling them to get lost, and a third cops.
The Demographic Truth: The media and politicians want to stoke fear of an “Islamic takeover,” but the truth is Dearborn isn’t even majority Muslim. Of the roughly 500,000 people of Middle Eastern descent in Michigan, nearly 60% are Christian.
Political Hypocrisy: Leaders like Governor Whitmer and Jocelyn Benson use these fringe boogeymen to stoke fear, raise money, and get elected. Hate might have no place in Michigan, but they sure know it’s good for business.
The Real Issue: The political roilings around here aren’t about culture wars—they’re about the economy, man. We’ve been getting screwed for 30 years since Washington handed the economy over to the big corporations.
They want us fighting over flags so we ignore our paychecks. Turn off the TV, look at your neighbors, and realize we’re all just trying to get to work and raise our kids. I might be an asshole, but I don’t hate.
Do you think these localized political stunts are intentionally designed to distract the working class from the real economic issues we’re facing?
